Prior To Handover.
When the following details of the car are available, the “Insurance Section” should be completed for you. This will be done at least 4 days prior to end of contract of a returning vehicle. This rule does not apply to brand new customers to the scheme. This also enables a lease extension of your existing car if the new car cannot be delivered on the same day of expiry as your old car.
- Registration number
- Full chassis number (VIN)
- Proposed registration date
- Confirmed Delivery Date (CDD)
- Radio Code (if applicable)
- Key code (if applicable)
- Exact car colour (next screen)
If the details of the new car are not available (delayed delivery e.t.c) your Inchcape Volkswagen Motability retailer must still enter a Confirmed Delivery Date (CDD). Leave “Are you ready to confirm all vehicle details?” question set as “No”. Change the delivery date to reflect the date the car can be delivered. Click to next screen and ‘submit’. This will automatically lease extend your existing car to suit the new delivery date.
Your Inchcape Volkswagen Motability retailer can change the delivery date as many times as required, but they must remember to leave at least 4 days between change of date and actual delivery date.
Any change to a delivery date must be carried out a minimum of 4 days prior to the last delivery date entered. The last “Confirmed Delivery Date” entered will count as the latest ‘End of Contract’ date.
PLEASE NOTE: Even if the actual delivery date does not change from the start of the application your Inchcape Volkswagen Motability retailer must still confirm this 4 days before you deliver the vehicle.
Your Inchcape Volkswagen Motability retailer can then download and print the pre-populated Insurance Cover Note. This is valid for one month and should be given to you at handover with your Welcome Pack.
Note: The Cover Note should not be used to register the new vehicle. Retailers should refer to the “Authority to Register” letter, which can be found in the Document Library. Your Inchcape Volkswagen Motability retailer must still confirm handover details online on the day of handover in order to receive their payment for the car.
